Huawei Ascend Mate 2 photos appear online

The Huawei Ascend Mate was among the first ridiculously big Android smartphones, and images of the Ascend Mate 2 show that nothing has changed with the follow-up. The phone once again has a display above 6-inches, runs Android, and has specifications that are common for smartphones of the time. It also has some features that are sure to draw comparisons to what Samsung is doing.
In the photos from Sina Weibo below, the Huawei Ascend Mate is shown as a plastic device with a faux-Chrome outer rim and accents. It's also slightly curved along the back and has a brushed metal appearance like Samsung used in the Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Round.
The Ascend Mate 2 has a 6.1-inch display that could be 1080p HD or 720p based on conflicting reports. It's also said to have a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor with a Mali 450 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. The phone's not likely to appear in many places outside of Asia if history repeats itself and Huawei has similar plans to original Ascend Mate, but maybe things could change.
