ZTE Grand S II
For starters, the phone represents one of the first major pushes that ZTE will make into the US market. ZTE has released midrange and branded devices in the past, but the Grand S II is a high-end phone more worthy of comparison to other devices. And those comparisons will be frequent. Along the sides of the device are plastic made to look like Chrome, and the rounded edges will draw comparisons to a certain Korean manufacturer. Thankfully, unlike said phone maker, ZTE opted for a plastic surface that is more solid than the glossy texture that is more common. The Grand S II is a little thick in terms of dimension, but its light feel and minimal bezel makes it more manageable. The ZTE Grand S II was one of many phones to debut at CES 2014. Considering that it also follows the mold of similar devices - Android, big 1080p HD displays, and quad-core processors - it's easy to not look twice at the phone. However, there are a few things worth paying attention to when it concerns the Grand S II.
The ZTE Grand S II features a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display, a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor (Snapdragon 800), 2GB RAM, and a 3,000 mAh battery, putting in on par with many of the high-end smartphones currently on the market. Its software will clearly differentiate it from other phones, so it remains to be seen whether that will be a good or a bad thing once ZTE clarifies its carrier plans and release schedule later this year. ZTE declined to state what carrier it will release the Grand S II but confirmed it will launch with a carrier partner in 2014. Here's a ZTE Grand S II hands-on video showcasing some of the features and the overall design.
